BANGALORE DURING 1950's........

Its really a dream to Bangaloreans who can still remember Bangalore in the 'good old days', and some of the buildings are still standing like the BRV, Opera Theatre, Orient Building, Russel Beef Market. Antony could be right when he refers to the licence plate number in one of the photographs as '1000' and feels that there were only 1000 cars in Bangalore.Well this is a great opportunity to see these photographs........

The imposing building is the Mayo Hall, which holds the Courts and was apparently also one of the main Police Station jails.

TODAY'S MAYO HALL IS..........

Great difference...............................

A view of Brigade Road, when you are coming down from South Parade (now MG Road) on the left hand side. The left hand side building is still standing, and housed the Ashok Electricals, the Post Office, now it is the LEE and Luis Phillips showroom, The Post Office has been given eviction notice!! The building still supports the British Coat of Arms found on Government buildings.
Today's BRIGADE ROAD is.........

Now it is one of the busiest roads in bangalore..............

New Opera is still looking like the above photograph, except that it is not being used, and encroached by small shops that sell clothes and computer software and hardware, and even have Internet browsing facilities in the back nooks and corners. Today's look is also available on my photograph page. The ladder at the lest side of the building leads to the projector room, and the larger staircase leads to the balcony.
HA HA HA.........
The TOWN HALL in 1934 which is in the construction stage...................
The same TOWNHALL IN 1950'S...........................

TODAY'S APPEARANCE.........
The south parade before.......

THE SOUTH PARADE NOW.......

THE well known MG ROAD in 1930's had trees on both sides of the road.......

MG ROAD TODAY.........

This strong stone building is now only known as the Oriental Building( presently houses the LIC) and is at the intersection of MG Road................

The same building today......

The ancient markets of bangalore...............
Today's bangalore malls................

The vrishabhavathi river in 1965.......people were using this as the source of drinking water and it was a full fledged flowing river..............

But today it is the famous KENGERI FALLS.......................

FRIENDS u saw how was BANGALORE BEFORE!!!!! and the same BANGALORE CITY is now THE WORLD'S GREATEST 'IT HUB'......

Really Bangalore has changed so much. It means the earlier face of Bangalore was totally different from what it is now. I came last year on 1st September 2010 to Bangalore from a small city-Shillong. Here the climate is just like that of Shillong.

Amazing pics, people who are born and bought up here will always like Old Bangalore, these pics remembers of my younger days of playing cricket in center of Trinity Circle, now its hard to find play grounds for kids to play. Present Bengaluru is all messed up. Wish we go back in time.

I wish if I had a time machine that could take me to 1950s and see Bangalore in real rather than imagining by looking at theses pics.
